"I seen the little thing Oscar talking about he's coming back. I mean, you know, I mean, if he wants to, we can rock and roll in September," stated undefeated pound-for-pound king Floyd Mayweather, who responded to comments made by Golden Boy Promotions founder Oscar De La Hoya suggesting that he's thinking about a rematch. Mayweather was on hand at a media workout being held at his gym for Saturday's showdown between former world champions Adrien Broner and Shawn Porter.
"We can do it at 54. He already know that. He said he wanted the rematch, so if Oscar want it, he can get it in September," Mayweather added. Considering that De La Hoya also said that he wanted to fight hard-hitting undefeated middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin if he did make a comeback, it's highly unlikely that he's serious considering a return to the ring. That being said, De La Hoya has always felt as though he had some unfinished business with Mayweather after losing a split decision to him back in 2007, so if there ever was a reason for him to come back, Mayweather just gave him plenty of motivation.
