"I mean, look, you've seen and the whole public's seen how I beat him after coming off a great win against Victor Ortiz. He knocked out Victor Ortiz, obviously, and he was on a high. Obvioulsy he was in better shape when he was fighting me. The way I beat him, I don't think anyone's beat him that way. Seems to me that Thurman fought my leftovers; someone who I beat comfortably," stated former world champion Amir Khan, who shared his thoughts on the recent performance of undefeated welterweight champion Keith Thurman. Although Thurman stopped former world champion Luis Collazo after 7 rounds of action, Khan, who also faced Collazo over a year ago, dropping him three times en route to a unanimous decicision win, was less than impressed with what he saw two weekends ago. Check out what else he had to say!
AMIR KHAN ON KEITH THURMAN'S PERFORMANCE AGAINST LUIS COLLAZO:
He was nowhere near the same fighter that I fought. The Luis Collazo that I fought had more confidence. I think me beating him dropped his confidence a lot. I put him down three times. Thurman didn't seem to hurt him. Obviously with that head clash, I think that kind of disheartened him, but he was in the thick of it. He was coming on strong and hurt him with some good shots. Another 30 seconds in that round, I think if Collazo would have put the pressure on, he could've maybe ended it that round because, to be honest with you, Thurman had nothing left.
Thurman is normally like a bully fighter, but when Collazo stood there in front of him and backed him up a little bit, I think Thurman didn't like that. It showed me and other fighters a lot now what Thurman's all about really. Thurman was the guy who was on his back foot. He's the one who was running. When I fought Collazo, my strategy and game plan, everything was just right and where it needed to be; little steps back and obviously make him fall into shots, whereas with Thurman, he was running in circles around the ring.
When he fought me, he was much more beat up. That beating did take a lot out of him, being knocked down three times and being hurt in every round basically and taking punishment throughout the whole 12 rounds. He definitely was beat up. I don't think anyone has beat him better. Collazo was walking through his punches. He calls himself "One Time", but he can't do it. I think he needs to change his name to "Sometimes".
