Earlier today at Hull's KC Lightstream Stadium, Luke Campbell earned a WBC lightweight title shot after scoring a 10th round stoppage of Tommy Coyle. Campbell dropped Coyle to the canvas four times before the referee called a halt to the contest at 1:41 in round 10.
The fight was action-packed from start to finish, with Coyle using roughhouse tactics to try and push Campbell back to the ropes. Coyle was dropped in the second round from a perfectly timed left hand to the body from Campbell. Although Coyle battled back and continued to pile the pressure on, he never troubled Campbell, who used his hand speed and superb timing to pick Coyle off.
Coyle was dropped to the floor again early in the tenth from another left hand to the body. Campbell took full advantage, dropping Coyle for a third time and fourth time, battering him back to the corner on both occasions. Coyle bravely battled back, but was soon backed into a corner again with good combination punching that forced the referee to step in and waved it off.
