"A fight against Manny Pacquiao would be a great event and a fight I would really want," stated former world champion Amir Khan, who recently contacted FightHype.com to confirm that he's currently in negotiations with 8-division world champion Manny Pacquiao for a potential showdown in the first quarter of 2016. According to Khan, everyone on both sides, including his advisor, Al Haymon, and Pacquiao's promoter, Bob Arum, are on board to make the fight a reality.
"Al Haymon, who advices me and looks after my interests also, likes the fight and hopes the fight can be made," Khan explained. "As always, he is working closely with me and the rest of the team to help make it happen. We are in negotiations with Manny's team to try to make the fight a reality."
Though a date has yet to be determined and will largely depend on how well Pacquiao has recovered from shoulder surgery, Team Khan hopes that the fight can happen as early as February, but they have no problems with it being pushed back to March or April. In the meantime, it seems unlikely that Khan will return in 2015 so long as negotiations with Team Pacquiao continue to move forward.
