Moments ago at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York, WBA middleweight champion Daniel Jacobs made an emphatic defense of his title, stopping the previously undefeated Peter Quillin in the first round. Quillin never even got an opportunity to get into the fight after Jacobs landed a devastating right hand in the first 60 seconds of the round, rocking the challenger back into the ropes.
As Quillin tried to cover up, Jacobs unloaded on him with a series of right hands. Instead of holding on, Quillin tried to fight back. Jacobs, however, was able to land a vicious right hook that nearly floored Quillin and had him on unsteady legs. After seeing the glazed look in Quillin's eyes, the referee wasted no time in calling a halt to the fight at 1:25 of round 1.
