Moments ago at The O2 Arena in London, Anthony Joshua brutally knocked out rival Dillian Whyte in the 7th round for the British and Commonwealth Heavyweight Title. In the very first round, Joshua's power had Whyte in all sorts of trouble. A strong right hand followed up by some ferocious combinations had Whyte wobbled against the ropes. He was soon wobbled again, but managed to survive the round. Joshua landed a shot just as the bell sounded, which prompted Whyte to angrily retaliate, forcing the referee to separate the two after the bell. That led to a big riot when the entourage of both men piled into the ring. It took a few minutes for security to calm everyone down.
Whyte, who had a huge ringside entourage, showed great recovery powers in round 2, recuperating and tagging Joshua hard. Joshua seeemed troubled and was on unsteady legs for a few seconds, but he managed to fire back with shots of his own. Whyte was looking to counter with a left hand predominantly. Despite taking a lot of punishment, he was firing back and catching Joshua with odd hooks and couple of good shots to the body. However, he found himself forced onto the back foot whenever Joshua landed with anger. The end would soon come for Whyte in round 7 when a massive right hand spun him around and left him on unsteady legs. It was miraculous that he stayed up as Joshua reigned down the punches. Whyte was in survival mode, stumbling around the ring. He was tagged against the ropes again before Joshua unleashed a MASSIVE right uppercut that brutally dropped Whyte through the bottom rope, ending the fight. Whyte tried to get himself to his feet, but he kept falling back down. He was totally out of it and had to be attended to while the huge celebration from Team Joshua was going on around him.
Chris Eubank Jr. beat Gary "Spike" O'Sullivan into submission in the final eliminator for Daniel Jacobs' WBA World Middleweight title. The end came at the end of round 7 when O'Sullivan returned to his corner and his corner instantly signalled to the referee to wave the fight off. O'Sullivan was on the end of some big shots throughout the fight, losing six out of the seven rounds with Eubank Jr.'s slick boxing movement and venomous shots giving O'Sullivan all sorts of problems. As early as the second round, Eubank Jr. found a way to force O'Sullivan back against the ropes, unleashing a ferocious barrage of punches, which O'Sullivan did well to survive from. O'Sullivan retaliated in round 3 with two big right hands that stung Eubank, but that was the only success the Irish man had as time and time again, the uppercut and big shots from Eubank landed at will. Another barrage forced O'Sullivan back against the ropes in round 6 and he looked visibly tired in round 7. Afterwards, O'Sullivan said he didn't believe he had any chance of winning the fight and was taking too much punishment. Eubank Jr. will now set his sights on Daniel Jacobs and his WBA world championship in 2016.
