"He might change something, but to me, Daniel is a competitor. He's going to go out there and compete; underdog or favorite, he don't care. He's going to go out there and take care of business. He's going to come with a good game plan," stated Bellator light heavyweight and RIZIN Fighting Federation heavyweight tournament champion King Mo Lawal, who shared his thoughts on the highly-anticipated April 23 rematch between UFC light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier and former champion Jon Jones. According to King Mo, although Cormier is being considered the underdog in the fight, the long layoff for Jones could play a bigger factor than people think in the outcome of the fight.
"I know Jav Mendez will have a good game plan and his team, Leandro, who is his Jiu Jitsu coach, his boxing coach Rudy, and Lil Rosendo will have a good game plan. He has a good team around him with AKA and they have a good squad and they are all a good group of people. I think Daniel will follow the game plan and go out there and get that victory. People will count him out, but Jon ain't fought in awhile and when you have those layoffs, it don't help you. In the long run, it can hurt you," King Mo explained during a recent conversation with FightHype.com. "I saw Jon in Vegas and I talked to him. I think he got his life together and that's good. He looked healthy, so that's good. It might be a better fight this time around from both fighters. But I have to go with my boy Daniel for the victory. And to me, it won't be an upset because you have two good athletes and two good fighters going out there and laying it all on the line, but I'm going with my boy Daniel."
King Mo also revealed that he put to rest any bad blood he once had for Jones during a recent encounter he had with the former champion. "A lot of it was because I sided with my boys DC and Rashad. I ride with my boys, but when I seen him, I was like, 'Look mane, my bad with the ho-shit. I sided with my boys. Keep doing your thing. I'm proud of you. You're making money,' because when it comes down to it, Daniel and Jon is a big fight. They need each other to make money. They can make money elsewhere, but they make the most money fighting each other, so I look at it like why would I knock a guy and dislike a guy that my boy can make money fighting," King Mo added. "At the same time, you're fighting my boy and I want my boy to win, but it's good for them to fight each other and make money off of each other, you know what I'm saying. It's about the money when it comes down to it, so I ain't going to knock the dude, man. I was riding with my boys too much. I don't have no problem with Jon. I don't even know him that well, but as long as he doing good, I'm happy for him. If he's clean and doing good, that means Daniel can fight him and they can both make money to feed their families."
