"Tell yo dad make the fight and I'll show him how much of a paper champ I am at yo weight and for yo belt," wrote undefeated unified jr. welterweight champion Terence Crawford, who recently took to Twitter to call out undefeated welterweight champion Danny Garcia. Evidently, Crawford is not pleased with some comments made by Garcia's father and world-class trainer, Angel Garcia.
It's unclear exactly what comments Crawford is referring to, but Garcia did suggest that HBO should be embarrassed for televising his victory over the previously undefeated Viktor Postol on pay-per-view. "Listen, I didn't even watch that shit, man. I ain't wasting my money. I ain't wasting money. Listen, HBO should be embarrassed," Garcia explained during a recent interview with FightHype.com. He then went on to say that "real champions" don't get the same type of exposure as "make believe champions", although it should be noted that Garcia never specifically said that Crawford was one of the "make believe champions" he was talking about.
That said, this isn't the first time that Angel Garcia has brought up Terence Crawford's name. Back in December, Garcia warned Crawford to stop telling people that he beat Danny Garcia as an amateur. "Terence Crawford better stop saying he beat Danny, man, as an amateur. He runs around telling people he beat Danny; HBO running with it. Listen, I'ma tell you the true story. We fought him in the USA championships, Danny sent him home for the Olympic Trials," Garcia explained.
