According to a report on ESPN.com, unified heavyweight champion Tyson Fury tested positive for cocaine during a September 22 random urine test conducted by VADA. Coincidentally, a day after that, his promoter, Hennessy Sports, released a statement revealing that an October 29 rematch with former heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko was off due to Fury being declared "medically unfit" by medical specialists who claimed that he had a condition "too severe to allow him to participate."
VADA has yet to complete their full testing for performance enhancing drugs, but Fury will likely be stripped of both his WBA and WBO world titles due to the positive cocaine test. Althought that's horrible news for fans of Fury, the turn of events could mean that the road has now been cleared for a potential showdown between Klitschko and undefeated IBF heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua. Both sides have already had discussions about the bout and were reportedly waiting to find out if Fury would be stripped of his titles.
