Moments ago, NABF super feather champion Tevin Farmer contacted FightHype.com to inform us that he is more than willing to step in for the injured (back injury) Orlando Salido, who was scheduled to face Takashi Miura in the co-main event of the December 17th farewell fight for future Hall of Famer Bernard Hopkins. Fresh off of a unanimous decision victory over Orlando Rizo this past Friday in a stay-busy fight, Famer was already scheduled to return to the ring on December 2. With the recent news of Salido's injury, Farmer is eager to bypass that fight to face Miura instead.
"I want Miura, so give me my shot. I won't fight on the 2nd if I could land that fight with Miura. I can't think of anyone who is more deserving than I am for this shot," Farmer stated. The fact that the card is headlined by Philadelphia legend Bernard Hopkins makes Farmer, a fellow Philadelphian, even more anxious to get on the bill. "It would be huge for me to fight on the same card as Bernard Hopkins. Not only do I look up to him and admire him, but he's meant so much to Philadelphia and I want to keep that going. What better way than to be showcased on his final card," Farmer added.
Farmer is currently riding a 16-fight winning streak that dates back to 2012. He is 3-0 on the year.
