MARCOS HERNANDEZ DISCUSSES KYRONE DAVIS CLASH:

"I can beat anybody with any style. If they come forward, I could outbox them. If they are slick boxers, I can outbox them and if that don't work, I can go and hunt them down. So just me being a versatile fighter...He's a very good fighter, but I'm better at every aspect," stated jr. middleweight Marcos Hernandez, who talked about  his upcoming clash with Kyrone Davis. Check it out!

PC: Tuesday night, you're facing once beaten Kyrone Davis as the co-feature on FS1. How has everything been going?

MH: Training has been great. It's been my best camp and probably most consistent camp where I showed up to the gym every day ready to go. You try to do that in every camp, but sometimes you just got those days. I haven't had any of those days in this camp. I've been training really hard for this one.

PC: Is that because of the level of competition that you think you elevated your game mentally and physically and that's why you took this camp so serious?

MH: Nah, I wouldn't say that. Last year, I fought an undefeated opponent who was 6-0 when I was 7-0 and I trained hard. And then I fought a one-loss opponent that was 7-1 after that, so it's not like he is my first tough test, but I do realize that he is a tough test. I try to train hard regardless, but it's just been a great camp. I've just been more focused knowing that a win against Kyrone would turn another corner for me in my career.

PC: You haven't had an easy road at all. It's been undefeated fighter after another and one-loss guy after another. Do you feel like your competition and your ability to remain unbeaten while fighting such tough competition will be what prepares you to reach your goals and all of the things you want to accomplish?

MH: Yeah, most definitely. The faster they push me, the faster I can get to where I want to go. So me going 10 rounds in my 10th fight, I love that. You don't really see fighters going 10 rounds when they only have 9 fights. I only have 9 fights right now and I'm going 10 again in this one.

PC: What have you found out about yourself throughout these fights against this good opposition?

MH: That I can beat anybody with any style. If they come forward, I could outbox them. If they are slick boxers, I can outbox them and if that don't work, I can go and hunt them down. So just me being a versatile fighter and being able to do different things and have different attributes than other fighters; they kind of just fight one way and get stuck in that way and I can change it up if I have to.

PC: What do you think of Kyrone as an opponent and what he brings to the table from what you have been able to see from him?

MH: Usually I don't watch my opponents, but I did watch him. The Castillo fight was really the only fight that I watched because it was the most recent that I could get a hold of. He has a good lil' style. He loads up on his punches. He's a very good fighter, but I'm better at every aspect.

PC: This is his first scheduled 10-rounder and as you mentioned earlier, you have conquered that already. Do you feel you can take him into deep waters and drown him so to speak?

MH: Yes, most definitely. I feel like I can take control early before it gets late into the fight, but if I have control early and I can push my pace and get him tired, then in the later rounds, it will be for sure to my advantage. I think I'm a better late round fighter than he is and I'm going to prove it Tuesday.

PC: On paper, you guys are pretty close in age and dimensions, but obviously something will separate you guys on fight night. What do you feel that will be?

MH: My work in the gym. I know people don't train as hard as I do. In the past in the amateurs, I may not have trained like I should have been, but as a pro, I turned it up to the next level and I've really been putting in work in the gym and I don't feel like other fighters are putting in work in the gym like I do.

PC: You've been on this FS1 stage before. Does it feel the same or has your approach changed for these fights on the televised stage at all?

MH: I just try to train hard in the gym. If I know I'm ready in the gym or I know I'm in shape, I don't worry about nothing on fight night. I just put in the work and that's pretty much it.

PC: What type of statement are you looking to make? What can fans expect on Tuesday night?

MH: A slick fighter that can move, box, and when my opponents get on the inside, I go to work. I don't hold.

PC: This has been a significant layoff for you. You said you've put the work in the gym. Do you feel like the work in the gym will be enough to mask any type of potential rust you may have?

MH: Oh yeah, for sure. I fought Thomas Hill last year off about an almost a year long layoff and that was one of my best performances. I figure this will be an even better performance because of my work in the gym.

PC: Is the mindset heading into this fight to springboard you into a busier situation and a huge opportunity?

MH: Yes! I feel like a win against Kyrone, who is a very good fighter and tough test for me, it would definitely help me and my career and set me on the path that I want to be on.

PC: I look forward to the fight. Good luck to you and we will talk afterwards. Is there anything else you want to add before I let you go?

MH: Thank you! Please let them know to follow me @madmarcos559 on Twitter, Instagram, and Snapchat.
