Once beaten Lightweight prospect Sharif Bogere (29-1, 20KO’s) and Mexico’s Jose Luis Rodriguez (23-9-1, 13KO’s) will face each other in 10 rounds of action Saturday, Oct. 21st at Sam’s Town Live in Las Vegas, NV for The Sin City Showdown, presented by Mayweather Promotions.

“It feels great to be back,” said Bogere. “These last few months have been about getting my body back to where it needs to be since my injury. Training camp has been exciting. I’ve been training and sparring with some really tough guys, and working on my balance and timing. After my last fight, I knew I needed to improve on a few things in order to become a better fighter and I have. I’m hungry! And when a lion is hungry you feed him!”

“This is my second fight in the states and I am happy to be back here representing Mexico to show my fans and country what I can do in the ring. I think this a great opportunity for me,” says Rodriguez.

Leading up the main event action is an exciting 8-round matchup between Welterweight division prospects Mayweather Promotions’ Cameron Krael (12-12-2, 3KO’s) fighting out of Las Vegas, NV vs. Shoki Sakai (22-7-1, 12KO’s). The Sin City Showdown card will also feature Mayweather Promotions’ promising prospects including undefeated Welterweight Sanjarbek Rakhamanov (8-0-1, 4KO’s), Junior Middleweight Oluwafemi Oyeleye (3-0, 1KO), two unbeaten Lightweight prospects Ahmed Mahmood (7-0-1, 3KO’s) and Rolando Romero (2-0, 2KO’s) in separate bouts, plus British Olympian Savannah Marshall (1-0), who recently made her professional debut with a UD win on August 26th on the Mayweather vs. McGregor undercard.

“This has been an incredible year for boxing, especially for the Mayweather Promotions’ stable,” says Mayweather Promotions CEO Leonard Ellerbe. “We have consistently put on shows that have been exciting and some record breaking. Sharif Bogere is one of those guys who never upsets and has talent that is simply undeniable. His high punch output style is what makes for an exciting fight. I am looking forward to seeing him back in the ring to put on a show for the fans. Rodriguez isn’t an easy opponent and shouldn’t be over looked, he’s a slug-it-out type of fighter. We are also excited to feature Cameron Krael, a very tough fighter as he takes on the relentless Shoki Sakai in the co-main event.”

Originally from Uganda, but fighting out of Las Vegas, Sharif “The Lion” Bogere returns to the ring after suffering a ruptured achilles tendon in training camp last October. Prior to his injury, Bogere was on track to getting one step closer to a Lightweight title shot, previously beating out Eduardo Florez by TKO the month before, in September. Bogere’s aggressive fight style and quick technique helped him gain 20 victories by KO, out of his 29 wins. Bogere’s only defeat came in 2013 against Richar Abril when he fought for the WBA World Lightweight title.

Born in Rio Bravo, Tamaulipas, Mexico, but fighting out of Nuevo Leon, Mexico, 30-year old Jose Luis Rodriguez makes only his second appearance fighting in the states since his debut in 2004. Rodriguez has fought the likes of WBO Latino Lightweight Champion Felix Verdejo and highly-ranked Mario Barrios, which ended in a loss for Rodriguez back in June. He found success in his most recent bout with a TKO victory against Saul Hermosillo. Like many Mexican fighters, Rodriguez has adopted a gritty brawler style of fighting, he comes forward and isn’t afraid to let his hands go.

At 23-years old Cameron Krael has made a name for himself becoming a fan favorite in his hometown of Las Vegas. He’s considered the “Gate Keeper” who will fight anyone in front of him. He’s fearless and doesn’t back down, and carries that same demeanor in the ring. Coming off a 4-win streak, Krael is ready to continue his ascension to becoming a top prospect in the Welterweight division. Krael is quick, has a tough chin and shouldn’t be easily dismissed.

A seasoned fighter at 26, Shoki Sakai was born in Amagaski, Japan and now fighting out of Mexico City, Mexico. Sakai makes his second appearance at Sam’s Town, recently beating Mayweather Promotions’ Ashley Theophane by UD this past August. Sakai holds a record of 23 wins 7 losses, 13 wins by way of knockout. Before making his U.S. debut, Sakai made a name for himself while fighting in Mexico and becoming a fixture on Mexican cards for six years. Sakai is a former WBC Youth champion at 140lbs and is determined to make his presence known in the states.
