FROCH EXPECTS TO BE MORE ENTERTAINING THAN PACQUIAO

This weekend, WBC super middleweight champion Carl Froch will put his title on the line when he meets former light heavyweight champion Glen Johnson in the semi-finals of the World Boxing Classic Super Six Tournament. The fight will be Froch's fourth in the tournament and if it lives up to any of the previous matchups, it promises to be action-packed and filled with drama. Of course, that comes as no surprise to the Nottingham native, who is proud of the fact that he's always in entertaining fights. In fact, according to Froch, being an entertainer fighter comes so natural to him that he's confident his showdown with Johnson will be much more entertaining than Manny Pacquiao's last bout.

During this week's open workout, a reporter asked Froch if he shared the same attitude of other fighters, like Manny Pacquiao, about making sure he put on an entertaining performance for the fans. Cutting in, Froch wasted no time to reply, "But if you listen to Pacquiao and he says all this, did you watch his last fight?" After posing the question, several members of the media laughed before Froch continued, "So that blows it all out of the water." When informed that Pacquiao was disappointed that he was unable to give the fans the type of fight they were hoping for, Froch simply smirked and replied, "Well, why didn't he do something about it then in the ring?"

Perhaps Pacquiao could have done more to close the show against Mosley, but there's no denying that he still dominated the fight from beginning to end. Froch is of the opinion, however, that it's not a matter of wanting to entertain, but it's a matter of being entertaining. If he were in a similar situation, Froch believes he still would have been more entertaining due to his style of fighting. "I always entertain when I fight. That's the kind of fighter I am. That's not my aim, it's just what happens because I'm a great fighter. I throw a long stiff jab, I've got a big punching right hand uppercut, I don't take any shit off anyone in the ring. If they hit me in the back of the head, they get hit back. If they try and rough me up, I rough them up back," Froch continued to explain. "But I'm in there to win and you can see that through my style. It's my personality coming out the ring. A fighter's personality comes out when they're fighting, and that's why I'm always in exciting fights."

Evidently, being exciting and entertaining is not something that Froch thinks about when he steps into the ring. It's just something that occurs naturally. "I'm not looking to put on a show for anybody. I'm in there to listen to Rob [McCracken] and do what I do best, and that's win the fight by any means necessary. And it just so happens I'm entertaining to watch; I'm an exciting fighter," he added. So is he right? Will Froch vs. Johnson end up being more entertaining than Pacquiao vs. Mosley? Has Carl Froch been a more entertaining and exciting fighter in recent fights than Manny Pacquiao? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
