After a long hiatus, former Strikeforce light heavyweight champion King Mo Lawal is finally back on Twitter, but he's still hosting a mailbag on FightHype.com to stay in touch with fans and answer any and all questions related to himself, mixed martial arts, boxing, or just about anything. Send an email to King Mo at kingmo@fighthype.com and maybe next week, you too can see your questions and Lawal's responses in Mo's Midweek Grind. Check out what fans were asking and what King Mo had to say in this week's mailbag as he touches on Pacquiao vs. Marquez, Nonito Donaire, a fight with Rampage Jackson, Sergrio Martinez, and much more.
Hey Mo being a fan of Mayweather who would you like to see him fight next and when? Does Marquez stand a chance against Pacman and is there anything behind him drinking his own piss? Have you ever heard of this being beneficial to an athlete? Rez
King Mo: I'd like to see Floyd fight Sergio or Pac next year, but that's me as a fan. Marquez stands a chance, but its gonna be a tough fight for him. He is a lil' older and gonna be up in weight. Drinkin' piss don't do shit for you. All it do is let you know what piss tastes like. LOL.
Hey King, your predictions on these match ups:
Donaire vs Mares/Agbeko?
Donaire vs Nishioka?
Donaire vs Rigondeaux?
Donaire vs Gamboa?
Donaire vs JuanMa?
Your manager recently did a great article talking about how boxing and MMA could co-exist and shouldn't be compared. Do you agree with that notion
what's up take King? Thanks-big time supporter. Napa
King Mo: I think Donaire beats 'em all! He is solid; athletic and powerful. He has fought southpaws too. I agree wit it 100%! It's two different sports.
Hey MO- Do u think Martinez had an off night, Barker was that good or people are over reacting to the fight and always looking for him to land that Paul Williams type of shot? Me personally I thought he showed poise, heart and made great adjustments which is what experts say makes for greatness. Just my 2cents. Thought people were wayyyyyy too hard on Marvilla! Thanks Mr. Lawal
June B
King Mo: Barker fought smart and didn't take too many risks. It's hard to fight someone that ain't really tryin' to fight you back. He had his high guard up, like a Cuban, for a lot of the fight.
Do you really want Rampage? Seems to me you are pursuing a beatdown. I know you get all upset when people aren't kissing your ass and I expect nothing less here, so go ahead and fire away. I just don't see how you survive against Page! - Breezy
King Mo: LOL. You go by Breezy? I ain't even gonna respond to this dumb ass question. What type of man goes by the name Breezy? That's straight bitch! LOL
Anyone and I mean anyone that doesn't want to see Lawal/Jackson is nuts. Let's make this fight happen Sonnen style. If he lose he goes to heavyweight and if you lose you go back to Strikeforce. What you say Mo??? Reed- North Texas
King Mo: I don't even know how to answer this question 'cuz he wouldn't do shit at heavyweight, and I wouldn't go back to Strikeforce if I left.
Hey Mo this question has nothing to do with fighting, but you have traveled the world, so I wanted to know what are your favorite cities, states and countries that you have visited and will you be coming back to Louisiana soon (New Orleans)? Thanks for ur time and I always enjoy your interviews, fights and of course these mailbags. Rik the Rula
King Mo: Good question. I liked Tokyo, Japan...Baku, Azerbaijan...Tashkent, Uzbekistan...Makhachkala, Russia...Bander Abbas, Iran...Dubai, UAE. I'ma be back in the boot hopefully by November.
I apologize in advance for this being a little long, but this is my first time emailing you and wanted to ask a lot. So I apologize, first thing, Man what the hell is up with Jones/Evans? Will we ever get that fight? MMA fans can't complain about Pacquiao and Mayweather not happening anymore, but Jones/Evans is right up there with fights that may never happen (at least it appears that way).
Secondly, congrats on knocking out Roger. Where are the haters that said you would get tapped? I hope you land that Rampage fight. And bro don't feel obligated to stand with him. This is MMA and if he has a problem with guys taking him down he should work on his wrestling. GSP takes guys down all of the time and no one complains, so do what you have to do to win
altho I think you could more than hold your own standing with him.
Third, Sergio Martinez is a great athlete and boxer. Can you think of anyone else that had so much success in boxing, MMA or wrestling who was such a late bloomer? Couture comes to mind, but that's about it off of the top of my head. Oh and Alexis Vila as well. Your thoughts?
And last thing, If not Rampage I would really like to see you fight either Forrest Griffin or Tito/Lil Nog winner. I think Tim Kennedy is on his way to the UFC and I don't see any reason you shouldn't be. Their 205 division is not as deep as some think it is. I think they wanted to sideline Machida for the year and couldn't because of the lack of worthy opponents in the division. You could fill in where Luis Cane fell out since he's moving down to 185. Sorry for being long winded. I hope you get a chance to answer all of these questions and best of luck to you. Tim E.
King Mo: That fight will happen. Injuries have kept it from happening. It's just a matter of time. Them haters is just mad. They hate success when it ain't them doin' it. Ron Lyles is a fighter that was a late bloomer. He turned pro at 30 and had good wins over Shavers and Bonavena. Good questions. We gonna see what is gonna happen wit Strikeforce and UFC.
