When pound-for-pound champion Manny Pacquiao steps into the ring on November 12 to face long-time rival Juan Manuel Marquez for the third and final time, there will be two interested observers sitting ringside to take in all the action. In separate interviews, it was revealed that middleweight king Sergio Martinez and world-class trainer Floyd Mayweather Sr. are planning on attending the event.
"He will be at the Pacquiao fight just to watch the fight, not to challenge anyone, because he knows he is too big for Manny Pacquiao," commented Sampson Lewkowicz, the advisor of Martinez, in a recent interview with Mike Juhas on FightHype. Although Lewkowicz doesn't believe that a fight between the two fighters will ever take place, rest assured that Martinez will still be taking notes just in case Pacquiao decides to take them up on their offer to meet at a catcweight of 150 pounds. "Pacquiao fought at 150 against Margarito; he needs to go to 150 [for Martinez]," Lewkowicz would reiterated.
Also making tentative plans to attend the fight is none other than Floyd Mayweather Sr. "I might try to make it out there. I have a fighter fighting on the 19th, the week after, so we will see. I will try to make it out there. I like going to those fights, man, but we will see," Mayweather Sr. would tell FightHype's own Percy Crawford. Although he didn't sound quite as interested in watching the fight, rest assured you will likely see a Floyd Joy spotting as he routinely makes appearances at all of the biggest fights in Las Vegas. Whether or not he too will actually be taking notes remains to be seen, but let's hope that perhaps he plans on scouting the future opponent for his son.
