"I forgot about it 10 seconds after I heard about it. He's not going to do anything for Marquez that Victor Conte is doing for this sport; nothing," stated world-class strength & conditioning coach Alex Ariza, who shared his thoughts on the revelation that Juan Manuel Marquez has been working with Angel Guillermo Heredia, a former steroid dealer who previously testified to supplying performance-enhancing drugs to a number of high-profile athletes, including former Olympic and world champions Marion Jones and Maurice Greene. Despite the increase in size and the impressive change in Marquez's physique ahead of his third and final showdown with Pacquiao, Ariza seems unfazed about the news and does not think Heredia's work with the lightweight champion will make any difference come November 12.
"When I found out that it was Conte training Zab Judah, it didn't matter. I feel the same way right now as I felt when we were fighting Zab; nothing! We beat Zab and we'll beat this dude too," Ariza pointed out, reminding everyone about the phenomenal shape that Zab Judah also appeared to be in after working with Victor Conte in preparation for his showdown with another one of Ariza's athletes, unified jr. welterweight champion Amir Khan. As good as Judah looked, he was dominated and beaten up over the first four rounds before ultimately being knocked out in the 5th round. "I beat Conte and I'll beat this dude too. It's all the same to me," Ariza added.
