"Manny Pacquiao is on fire right now. He's training really well for this fight. He's got a little spark. I think he was slapped in the face by Marquez by wearing those shirts in the Philippines that said "I beat Manny twice" and I think Manny is going to pay him back after that and payback's a bitch," stated world-class trainer Freddie Roach, who spoke to the media about the upcoming November 12 clash with Juan Manuel Marquez during a conference call held earlier today. Check out what else he had to say.
On Manny's training...
Manny Pacquiao is on fire right now. He's training really well for this fight. He's got a little spark. I think he was slapped in the face by Marquez by wearing those shirts in the Philippines that said "I beat Manny twice" and I think Manny is going to pay him back after that and payback's a bitch!
On Marquez's style and physique...
I think he's more offensive...yeah, he changed his style a little bit, and I hope he stays offensive.
He looks like he's been working hard and he's definitely a lot bigger, a lot stronger. I feel that will hurt his speed and that's going to help us. He looks like he's been lifting heavy...and he's a lot bigger and stronger, but Manny is ready. If he wants to come and attack us, we're 100% ready for that.
On whether or not Manny has any animosity towards Marquez...
Manny likes everyone in the world...but I think Marquez, again, went to the Philippines and he started to embarrass Manny by saying, "I beat Manny twice and I got robbed," and so forth, so it was an extra spark...we had a great training camp and I've never seen Manny as motivated as I have for this fight.
On Manny being able to avoid distractions...
Well, you know, Manny separates things very well. The thing is he's very busy outside the gym and so forth, but once he comes to the gym, it's nothing but boxing and working hard, and I like the separation so it doesn't keep his mind going on the fight all the time...it's really not a distraction at all. It's just that's Manny Pacquiao.
