JUAN MANUEL MARQUEZ: "I'M GOING TO BE JUST AS GOOD...IT'S GOING TO BE A GREAT WAR"

By Ben Thompson | November 02, 2011
JUAN MANUEL MARQUEZ:

"I feel very happy with all my traning I've done for this fight. I think we're going to cler a lot of doubts about who really won those first 2 fights. That's why I'm looking forward to this November 12....I don't beleive age has anything to do with it. I prepared myself very well. I'm going to be just as good as a few years back...I would rather fight Pacquiao 3 or 4 more times than I would fight Mayweather again. Mayweather is just a defensive fighter. He doesn't let you fight. He doesn't fight, but we know Pacquiao comes to fight. He's a spectacular fighter. He's always going to give us a fight and that's why I think it's going to be a great war between us," stated lightweight king Juan Manuel Marquez, who spoke to the media about the upcoming November 12 clash with Manny Pacquiao during a conference call held earlier today. Check out what else he had to say.

On his training...

We had a great training camp. We're looking forward to November 12th, the big fight, so I think the preparation has been one of our best.

I feel very happy with all my traning I've done for this fight. I think we're going to cler a lot of doubts about who really won those first 2 fights. That's why I'm looking forward to this November 12.

On recent comments made by Victor Conte regarding his stenght and conditiong coach...

Conte can speak to whatever he wants. Is it an opinion? Is it fact? I think the lawyers will have their hands on that case. As for me, I'm just preparing myself to get ready for a fight. If he can present some fact, then we'll have our attorneys take care of that.

On whether or not he would've like the 3rd fight to come sooner...

I don't beleive age has anything to do with it. I prepared myself very well. I'm going to be just as good as a few years back. As long as I had the good training camp that I had, I'll be fine.

On Paquiao's saying he's motivated because he feels disrespected that Marquez thinks he won the first 2 fights...

Well, if he's upset about me saying that I won the first 2 fights, I'm upset that I haven't gotten the decisions. I think that I'm motivated just as much as he is. We all have our opinions. My opinion is that I didn't get the decisions that I deserved.

On why he thinks he'll look better moving up in weight now than when he did to fight Mayweather...

I would rather fight Pacquiao 3 or 4 more times than I would fight Mayweather again. Mayweather is just a defensive fighter. He doesn't let you fight. He doesn't fight, but we know Pacquiao comes to fight. He's a spectacular fighter. He's always going to give us a fight and that's why I think it's going to be a great war between us.

On whether or not the recent revelations about his strenght and conditioning coach have affected him...

I knew that he had trained a lot of elite atheletes before I met him. We talked about what I needed to do. I was very happy with what he told me I need to do. I think that he's a very professional guy. We work very well together. I think this last things that have been said about him by Conte and Ariza, I think that's some legal issues that he's going to have to deal with. I'm just preparing myself to fight.

On whether or not there will be a difference in his power...

We knew we needed to do some things differently and that's what we did. I mean, after 18 years of doing the same thing, we went other ways and did other things and I'm very happy with the results. I think it's going to make me a better fighter and I'm going to be well-prepared when I fight this third fight with Pacquiao.

More on the recent revelations about his strenght and conditioning coach...

I didn't find out any of this stuff that's been written the last couple of days. It's been news to me, but it's a shame that all the work that I've done, how hard I've worked for this preparation, that now it's just being thrown to the trash can by Conte and Ariza by saying these things. I worked very hard and I'm not going to stop training and get ready for the fight. If they want to do testing, blood, Olmpian, whatever they want to do, we'll do it, no problem, just so long as he does it too.
