Moments ago, jr. middleweights James Kirkland and Alfredo Angulo went to war and may have produced both the Fight of the Year and the Round of the Year. Both fighters came out trading heavy leather, but after a devastating right hand from Angulo floored Kirkland roughly 30 seconds into the fight, it looked like it would be an early night. After the knockdown, Angulo swarmed Kirkland, landing a series of shots that battered Kirkland around the ring. However, after more than a minute of non-stop punching, Angulo punched himself out, Kirkland weathered the storm and turned the action around, landing a series of his devastating combinations that would floor Angulo. In the end, it was Kirkland's determination and conditioning that won out as Angulo was never able to recover after punching himself out.
