It appears the damage sustained to his left knee during the 2nd round of his cruiserweight title fight with Denis Lebedev was far more serious than expected and sufficient enough to require future Hall of Famer James "Lights Out" Toney to undergo surgery to repair it. Although his knee is still too swollen to determine the full extent of the damage to the patellar tendon, Toney's surgery is already scheduled for this Friday.
Toney, who lost a 12-round unanimous decision to Lebedev in Moscow, Russia last Friday, has vowed to fight on, confident that it was the injury to his knee that prevented him from putting on the type of performance he trained for.
