On his official Twitter page, undefeated pound-for-pound champion Floyd Mayweather made it crystal clear about who he wants to face on May 5 by posting, "Manny Pacquiao I'm calling you out let's fight May 5th and give the world what they want to see." In fact, he would take it one step further, commenting for the first time on the news of his incarceration being postponed. "My Jail Sentence was pushed back because the date was locked in. Step up Punk."
Although rumors that three-division world champion Robert Guerrero and WBC jr. middleweight champion Saul "Canelo" Alvarez are strongly being considered as potential opponents for Mayweather's May 5 return, Mayweather himself reiterated that a fight with Manny Pacquiao is what he wants, a notion that he's repeated since first making the announcement back in November that he would be fighting on that date. Unfortunately, promoter Bob Arum has made it clear that Manny Pacquiao would be unavaiable to fight on the date due to a cut that he suffered in his November 12 bout with Marquez. According to Arum, Pacquiao's plastic surgeon, who also happens to be dating Arum's stepdaughter, said Pacquiao could not begin sparring until April 1.
It's unclear at this point if Pacquiao shares the same sentiment as his promoter about his unavailability on the May 5 date. Let's hope he seeks a second opinion on the plastic surgeon's diagnosis that he'll be unable to spar.
