Once again, undefeated WBC welterweight and pound-for-pound champion Floyd Mayweather has taken to Twitter to call out 8-division world champion Manny Pacquiao. "I'm ready to put my belt up. What about you Manny Pacquiao? Let's make history," Mayweather would post on his official Twitter page, along with a recent picture of himself with his WBC title next to him. It's the second time in the past two days that Mayweather has commented on a potential May 5 clash with Pacquiao.
Yesterday, Mayweather would post similar messages, telling Pacquiao, "I'm calling you out let's fight May 5th and give the world what they want to see" and "My Jail Sentence was pushed back because the date was locked in. Step up Punk." Unfortunately, it appears as though Pacquiao is not interested in fighting on the May 5 date, preferring instead for the fight to take place at the end of May to allow time for the construction of a temporary 45,000-seat outdoor stadium in hopes of maximizing his profits. "Be your own boss Floyd and fight at the end of May, for the economic reason of earning the extra income from the bigger stadium," Pacquiao instructed Michael Koncz, his adviser, to respond with via text message to a reporter.
Despite Mayweather making it crystal clear that he wants to give the fans the fight that they want to see on May 5, it looks as though Pacquiao is much more interested in making as much money as possible from the already lucrative bout. It certainly is ironic to see that the fight is not going to take place on May 5 because Manny Pacquiao is concerned about how much money the gate will generate.
