"I'm ready to fight Pacquiao 5/5/12 Bob Arum know the date can't change I have my guarantee call Schaefer & Al and stop lying to the public," stated undefeated pound-for-pound champion Floyd Mayweather in his latest post on his official Twitter page, debunking accusations made promoter Bob Arum and once again making it crystal clear that he's looking to fight Manny Pacquiao on May 5. In a recent interview, Arum suggested that he was unsure of who to contact in order to resume negotiations, refusing to speak to Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer because he did not think he had the authority to speak on his behalf. Arum also suggested that he was more than willing to make the fight, but he wasn't sure if Mayweather had anyone to guarantee his purse for the bout.
In one short tweet, Mayweather put both of the notions to rest, telling Arum to stop lying to the public and clarifying that he already has his guarantee in place and Arum need only speak to either Al Haymon or Richard Schaefer to make the fight a reality. Mayweather would also note that Arum is fully aware that he is unable to change his fight date due to the fact that he already had his surrender date postponed by the judge when his attorney explained that the complexity of the business of boxing made it difficult to reschedule fights on short notice. "January 16th was Dr. Martin Luther King Birthday January 17th is Muhammad Ali Birthday and May 5th is Pacquiao ass whooping day," Mayweather would post in a separate update to his Twitter page. "First They say I'm Ducking the Fight. But now it seems like I'm begging for the fight.. What is going on," he added.
