According to reports out of the Philippines, undefeated pound-for-pound champion Floyd Mayweather and 8-division world champion Manny Pacquiao had a phone conversation some time in the early hours of the morning regarding a proposed May 5 showdown. Pacquiao revealed the news to ABS-CBN's Dyan Castillejo, telling her that he informed Mayweather that he had no problems facing him on any date so long as he was guaranteed a 50/50 split of the revenue.
"I said just give me a 50/50 split in revenue and there would be no problem, anytime. It's up to you. We'll wait for your answer," Pacquiao recalled of the conversation. According to the Twitter page of Mayweather's assistant, David Levi, it was Mayweather himself who reached out to Pacquiao. "And just so you know, Floyd called Manny, not the other way around," he wrote. The revelation from Pacquiao would be in direct contradiction to what both his promoter, Bob Arum, and his adviser, Michael Koncz, have said regarding his preference to fight on a later date.
