
According to Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer, roughly 800 tickets are left for the long-awaited May 5th showdown between undefeated pound-for-pound champion Floyd Mayweather and WBA jr. middleweight champion Miguel Cotto. Tickets initally went on sale Tuesday, February 28 at 1:00PM ET/10:00AM PT, and of the 16,000 that are available, approximately 15,200 have already been snatched up. Schaefer said they are expecting a complete sell-out as early as tonight.
Tickets were priced at $1,500, $1,250, $600, $300 and $200, and there was a total ticket limit of 12 per person, with a limit of 10 per person at the $1,500, $1,250, $600 and $300 price levels and a limit of 2 per person at the $200 price level. Given how quickly they were purchased, it's clear that this is a fight that fans have been waiting to see for a long time.
Mayweather vs. Cotto is promoted by Mayweather Promotions, Golden Boy Promotions and Miguel Cotto Promotions. The 12-round WBA Super Welterweight World Championship fight will take place Saturday, May 5 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas and will be produced and distributed live by HBO Pay-Per-Viewbeginning at 9:00 p.m. ET/6:00 p.m. PT.
