FightHype.com recently caught up with veteran MMA middleweight David "The Crow" Loiseau to talk about his eagerness to return to the UFC in hopes of adding some depth to the middleweight division. Check out what he had to say about a rematch with Rich Franklin, a possible fight with Anderson Silva and his thoughts on Georges St-Pierre's willingness to step in on short notice to face Matt Hughes in a rubbermatch at UFC 79.

PC: How have you been doing my man?

DL: I've been doing great man. I've just been training. I was supposed to fight in November, but the event got cancelled. It's rescheduled for January 12th.

PC: Will you be fighting in the States or in Canada?

DL: It will be in the States.

PC: How are you doing health-wise?

DL: Thanks to God, all is great man. I'm 100%. I had hand surgery in May and all is well.

PC: How frustrating has it been for you to not be able to compete as often as I'm sure you would've liked to?

DL: Man, it's frustrating for sure man. We have to pick the right fights and the right opponents. I had the issue with the surgery and all that stuff and I had to make sure I was 100%. My goal is to get back in the UFC. It's a tough road, but it's stronger when it's tough and the victory tastes better.

PC: The middleweight division seems to be the most open division in the UFC. How far away do you think a return is for you?

DL: Man, I have no idea. It depends on the UFC management. I'm ready to go back, it just depends on when they want to get me back in there. They have my management numbers so I'm just staying in shape and ready to fight.

PC: Georges St-Pierre recently accepted a fight with Matt Hughes on short notice. Have you been training with him lately?

DL: Oh, definitely! I've been training with Georges…we were both in New Mexico training with Rashad Evans for his fight. We were both there. Georges is actually like me. He never stops training. He just keeps training, you know? He's in great shape. It may be short notice as far as strategy-wise, but conditioning, everything is good. Georges is in shape.

PC: Do you see the 3rd fight with Hughes going similar to the way their 2nd fight went?

DL: Yeah, I think so. Georges is very smart in the cage. You saw the adjustment he made in the second fight and he picked him apart. Matt Hughes is no pushover. He's one of the greatest athletes in MMA. He's a legend and that's why he's won the title 3 times. We respect him a whole bunch.

PC: Anderson Silva is running through the UFC middleweight division. Is that someone you would like the chance to fight and are you surprised at how easy he's beating guys?

DL: I'm not too surprised. I've known about Anderson Silva since the year 2000. I saw him fight in Brazil. I've always said that this guy was a killer, but people would look past him. He got a couple of submission losses in Japan and people thought that he wasn't that good. I always knew that he was a killer and that his standup was ahead of the game of anybody fighting right now. Everybody's beatable. There's no invincible fighter, you know. You could tell that just by looking at the upsets that have happened in the past. He's a great fighter and I would love to fight him one day.

PC: Silva just defeated Rich Franklin, which was a tough fight for you. Would you like to get Rich in the cage again?

DL: Oh definitely! I would like to rematch everyone that's beat me, except for Joey Villasenor because we're now teammates over at Team Jackson. I would never fight him again. It's official. I'm part of Team Jackson so that rematch won't happen. It's nothing personal man, I just want to fight anybody that has beaten me.

PC: Robbie Lawler has the Elite XC title. Is that a fight that interests you?

DL: I'm not really with Elite XC anymore. I'm working on getting back in the UFC. Robbie is a great fighter though and he's grown so much over the years. He's much calmer and technical to where before, he was just swinging for the fences. He does it with a purpose now and he's much more intelligent.

PC: Is there anyone in particular that you want to fight?

DL: No one in particular. I just want to fight. I have nothing against anybody. I'm not the kind of fighter that calls people out. I just want to fight. I just want to put on a great show for the fans and that's it.

PC: We'll get back together when you get in the States so your phone won't keep giving out on you. Give me some closing thoughts for your fans my man.

DL: I want to thank them for their loyal support man and unconditional love. I haven't fought in the UFC for so long and I still get a lot of love. I promise you, I'll be back. I'm improving so much training with Greg Jackson and BTT Canada. I'm improving a lot and I'm going to make a big comeback!
