On June 21st, welterweight sensation Andre Berto is heading to New York as he looks to extend his undefeated record in hopes to line himself up for a title shot. Although details have yet to be finalized, Berto is scheduled to take on Miguel Angel Rodriguez (29-2, 23 KOs) at Madison Square Garden in a 12-round bout likely to be televised as the main event of HBO Boxing After Dark.

Berto last fought two months ago in February when he dominated and dismantled Michel Trabant (43-3-1, 19 KOs) en route to an impressive sixth round stoppage. He's currently ranked #1 by the WBC, a title held by pound-for-pound king Floyd Mayweather Jr., and #2 by the IBF. An impressive win in June will likely set Berto up for a title shot later this year, perhaps against IBF #1 contender Joshua Clottey assuming newly crowned champion Antonio Margarito is forced to vacate if he takes on Miguel Cotto as anticipated.
