EVERLAST PARTNERS WITH PUERTO RICO, DOMINICAN REPUBLIC AND HAITI BOXING TEAMS FOR THE 2008 OLYMPIC GAMES

Everlast Worldwide has announced an agreement to become the official equipment and apparel supplier of the Dominican Republic and Puerto Rican National Boxing Associations as they head to the Olympic Games in Beijing next Month.  Everlast is currently the official equipment supplier of USA Boxing and the USA National Team.

The recently signed partnerships are a part of a global initiative for Everlast to support the world of amateur boxing and strengthen participation within the sport at the youth level. The partnerships include sponsorship of national tournaments, as well as product donations for their national training center and gyms. 

"Amateur boxing is at the very core of Everlast's authenticity and we are fully dedicated to strengthening the sport at the grassroots level," said Matt Cowan, Sports Marketing Director of Everlast.  "These countries have produced tremendous talent over the years, and we are proud to support the growth of boxing within their respective countries as well as their national teams' quest for Olympic gold."

The Dominican Republic and Puerto Rican boxing teams have already been chosen for this year's Olympic Games in Beijing and Everlast supplied amateur fight gloves, head gear and boxing shoes for all their qualifying rounds.  The Haitian team, a member of one is also expected to do very well in the games.  Once they step into the ring in Beijing, the teams will have a number of athletes expected to compete for the gold.  More notably, McJoe Arroyo of the Puerto Rican team, a bronze medalist at the 2007 World Championships and Americas Olympic Qualifier Light Heavyweight Champion Carlos Negron are both top picks for the gold. Argenis Nunes a 2007 silver medalist is a favorite contender on the Dominican Republic team.
