"I'm undefeated and I want to stay undefeated. I consider myself one of the best pound-for-pound and I'm going to prove it on the 13th. He knows what losing tastes like because losing comes easy for him," stated undefeated WBO super featherweight champion Joan Guzman as he talked about his move to lightweight and his upcoming clash with WBA, IBF & WBO champion Nate Campbell. Check out what else he had to say about the fight, Campbell and much more.
JA: How have you been, man?
JG: I've been doing good; just training here in Vegas perfecting my skills.
JA: Have you been training with Floyd Sr.?
JG: Yes.
JA: How do you feel physically?
JG: I feel great in this camp. I have my strength and conditioning coach who helps keep me fit and then I have Floyd Sr. who is helping me prepare myself with the technical part of my training.
JA: In an interview that we had last week, Nate Cambell was talking about you. He said that he's going to show you how to lose; that you haven't really fought anybody on his level. What do you have to say as far as those comments are concerned?
JG: Those are a lot of lies, but he can talk all he wants. He can feel like Superman if he wants, but he's going to fight Joan Guzman, a guy that goes in the ring to hand out ass whoopins! I'm not much of a talker, but on September 13th, there's only going to be one winner and that's going to be me.
JA: He basically said that Soto is nowhere near his level; that he's going to take your 0 and that he has nothing to lose in this fight.
JG: I'm undefeated and I want to stay undefeated. I consider myself one of the best pound-for-pound and I'm going to prove it on the 13th. He knows what losing tastes like because losing comes easy for him.
JA: The 135-pound division is definitely heating up with fights like Casamayor-Marquez and Diaz-Katsidis. How do you think things will shape up in the division?
JG: There's definitely a lot of talent in the division and there's potential for big fights in this division. I just hope that these guys don't start ducking me like they did when I was at 122 and 130.
JA: Are there any last comments that you'd like make to your Dominican fans or even Nate Campbell?
JG: I just want to thank my Dominican fans for all of their support. I'm going to bring another championship back to the Dominican Republic. To Nate Campbell, I just want to say the 13th is coming and the punches are coming. There's not going to be much talking on September 13th so he better be ready.
JA: Alright Joan, thanks for your time man. Take it easy.
JG: Any time man.
