
Philadelphia based welterweight prospect Mike Jones looked spectacular in stopping hard-hitting Brazilian Juliano Ramos in six rounds at the New Alhambra in Philadelphia Friday night. Jones utilized superior technique, hand speed and power to simply outclass the game Ramos. Jones battered Ramos from pillar to post until finally ending it in the sixth when a salvo of vicious punches left Ramos disconnected from his senses prompting referee Steve Smoger to mercifully waive a halt to the bout.
The official time of the stoppage was 1:12 in round six. With the victory Jones retains an unblemished record of 15-0, 13 KOs; Ramos falls to 15-2, 12 KOs in defeat.
In the evening's televised co-feature Chicago based junior middleweight Rudy Cisneros gutted out an eight round unanimous decision over previously undefeated Latif Mundy. The action was close at times, but in the end, the judges favored Cisneros with scores of 78-73, 77-75, and 77-74. With the victory Cisneros improves his record to 12-2, 10 KOs; Mundy tastes defeat for the first time in his professional career as his record falls to 8-1, 3 KOs.
Cruiserweight Pedro Martinez of Philadelphia scored an exciting one punch knock-out of Reshawn Scott in the nights televised swing bout. A sweeping right hand from Martinez landed flush on the chin of Scott who fell flat on his back unable to continue.
The official time of the stoppage was 31 seconds into the second round. With the win Martinez improves his record to 2-1, 2 KOs. Scott falls to 1-1 in defeat.
