ALESSIO SAKARA: "ATT HAS HELPED MY GAME A LOT"

By Percy Crawford | September 08, 2008
ALESSIO SAKARA:

"I need to be more consistent in the Octagon. I'm training a lot every day to be more consistent in my next fight and for the rest of my career," stated UFC middleweight Alessio Sakara as he talked about his upcoming September 17th fight with Joe Vedepo. Check out what he had to say about the fight, training with ATT and more.

PC: How is it going Alessio?

AS: I'm very good, thanks.

PC: Tell us about your next fight in a couple of weeks?

AS: Yeah, I come back in the UFC September 17th against Joe Vedepo.

PC: How did you feel in your first fight at 185 against Chris Leben?

AS: I felt good in the fight. I just needed a little more good luck.

PC: You looked a little pale at the weigh-in, but you seemed to put it back on okay and looked solid for the fight. Was it a difficult cut for you?

AS: The first time I had to cut to 185, it was very hard, but now I feel a lot better there.

PC: You've had your ups and downs in the UFC. What do you feel you have to do to become more consistent inside of the Octagon?

AS: Yes, I need to be more consistent in the Octagon. I'm training a lot every day to be more consistent in my next fight and for the rest of my career.

PC: Is there anybody in particular you would like to fight next if you're successful against Vedepo?

AS: Any fighter is good for me. I have no preferences.

PC: Who do you like in the fight between Michael Bisping and Chris Leben?

AS: I really dont know. Bisping and Leben are both tough guys.

PC: Anderson Silva has set himself above all of the other fighters at middleweight, but the rest of the division seems to be wide open. Do you feel you're one or two wins away from being right in the mix?

AS: Anderson is on another level right now. I just have to win before I can even think about fighting for a title. I have to win this fight.

PC: How much did the move to ATT help your game out?

AS: ATT has helped my game a lot. I'm thankful because now I get to train with the best in the world every day.

PC: You've consistently averaged 2 to 3 fights per year. Would you like to fight one more time this year?

AS: I like to fight so the more I fight, the happier I am. I would like to fight as much as possible.

PC: You're a bit of a different type of fighter to train at ATT being that you like to strike with your opponents. Did you make the move there to improve your ground game?

AS: I am a brown belt in Jiu Jitsu from De La Riva when I lived in Brazil. It took me 5 years to get that, but I like to strike. I like action.

PC: If you got into a street fight with some random guys, what other fighters would you want with you?

AS: Michael Bisping, Drew McFedries, Chris Leben and Dean Lister.

PC: Thanks for your time Alessio. I wish you good luck in your future fights. Is there anything you want to say in closing?

AS: Thank you very much for this interview. Thanks to all of my supporters and I apologize for my bad English.
