
For nearly a decade Prize Fight Boxing Promotions has worked diligently to put on some of boxing's biggest cards while showcasing some of the sports brightest stars. Prize Fight Boxing have been the figurehead behind some of the biggest shows and brightest stars including, Anthony and Lamont Peterson, Zab Judah, Mike Tyson, Roy Jones and Antonio Tarver as well as up and coming talent such as, Mark Davis, Fernando Guerrero and Shawn Porter. The company co-promoted arguably the biggest fight in boxing history, Mike Tyson vs. Lennox Lewis in Memphis, TN back in 2002. Russ and Brian Young have been the pioneers of the Southern fight scene and they are now taking it to another level with, Prize Fight MMA and the Mid- South MMA Championships!
The Mid-South MMA Championships will take place on May 9th, 2009 at the Snowden Grove Ampitheatre in Southaven, MS. The card will spotlight some of the south's brightest young talent that the sport has to offer including 8 amateur bouts and 4 pro. The pro card will be kicked off by John-David Shakleford (3-3) of Olive Branch, MS and representing Memphis Judo & Jiu Jitsu and the Fight Clinic taking on Jason Woods (3-1) of Jackson, TN and representing Striketeam. Next up will be the undefeated Travis Adams (3-0) of Jonesboro, AR and fighting out of Max Bishop's MMA gym taking on Brian White (1-2) of Tupelo, MS and representing Tupelo BJJ. The co- main event will pit Chris Hawk (3-2) from Memphis, TN and training at Memphis Judo & Jiu Jitsu fighting King of the Cage veteran Mike Perez (4-2) from Jackson, MS and representing Team Deliverance. The main event will be headlined by 2 guys making their pro debuts as Austin Lyons from Memphis, TN will take on hometown favorite, Brandon Harder from Southaven, MS and fighting out of Bang Fighting Gym. Both fighters' come in highly regarded with great skill set and high expectations.
Prize Fight is looking to burst onto the MMA scene much like its boxing debut in July of 1999. The proud recipients of the 2007 NABO Promoter of the Year; Prize Fight MMA will look to bring that same good faith, great events and top fighters to the sport of mixed martial arts.
Tickets are available for Prize Fight MMA Championships debut show at Ticketmaster (901) 525-1515 with general admission tickets selling for $25 and cage side seats priced at $35. Doors will open at 6 pm CST with the first fight starting at 7 pm CST.
