Over 3000 people were in attendance at the HP Pavillion in San Jose, CA and Robert "The Ghost" Guererro did not disappoint his hometown fans in his win over Efren Hinojosa on ESPN2 Friday Night Fights. Just three months ago, Guerrero faced David Yordan at the HP Pavillion in a fight that ended with a dispointing headbutt that caused a bad left cut over Guerrero's eye. After taking a lot of criticism from people questioning his heart, Guerrero was back in the ring to prove the naysayers wrong.
The fight started off strong with both fighters ready to put on a show. It was Guerrero, however, who was sharper and throwing the harder shots. Although Hinojosa (30-6-1, 17 KOs) showed courage and heart, it wasn't enough to keep Guerrero off of him as The Ghost relentlessly attacked and landed impressive combinations. In the 8th round, the crowd was on their feet as the fight was intense and the action was heating up after Guerrero received another cut over his eye, but Hinojosa was taking a beating. When he returned to his corner, the ring physician ended the fight due to a dislocated right elbow.
With the win, Guererro got the victory and redemption he needed for anyone questioning his heart. The fans were impressed and it looks like The Ghost is back and ready to take on the best fighters in the division.
