According to Affliction VP Tom Atencio, former UFC heavyweight champion Josh Barnett has tested positive for a banned substance prior to his August 1st clash with Fedor Emelianenko at Affliction Trilogy. "(Barnett) tested positive for a banned substance. The athletic commission will not reinstate his license. Him and Fedor is off," stated Atencio.

According to reports, middleweight Vitor Belfort, who's currently slated to face Jorge Santiago on the same card, expressed his willingness to step in to face the WAMMA heavyweight champion. There are also reports that undefeated heavyweight Bobby Lashley has been tabbed as a possible replacement. Two other possibilities include Fabricio Werdum, who recently saw his August 15th clash with Alistair Overeem cancelled due to a hand injury that the Strikeforce heavyweight champion suffered, as well as Brett Rogers, who's coming off an impressive first round knockout of Andrei Arlovski last month.
