| "I have no pressure. Carlos has all the pressure on his shoulders. He can't lose again, facing the possibility of getting cut from the UFC. I'm excited, I am mentally prepared and I will break him...I'm excited to fight Condit. I'm confident I will finish Condit," stated welterweight Jake Ellenberger as he talked about his upcoming UFC debut against Carlos Condit at UFC Fight Night 19. Check out what else he had to say.
PC: How are you doing Jake?
JE: I'm doing great, thanks for asking.
PC: How is training going for your UFC debut against Carlos Condit?
JE: Training is going excellent. I have great coaches, great training partners; everything is good. I'm stoked.
PC: Where do you train and who are your main training partners?
JE: My coaches and main training partners are Kurt Podany, Scott Morten, my twin brother Joe, Ryan Jensen and Jason Brilz.
PC: Condit is very experienced and showed he could do a little bit of it all in his last fight against Kampmann. Where do you feel he poses his biggest threat to you?
JE: I don't really feel any big threats from Carlos. He does have a reach advantage, but that's it.
PC: This will be your UFC debut, but you have a ton of experience. Could you give us a little background on yourself?
JE: I've been training MMA for about 5 years. I started training kickboxing first with Ryan Jensen and watching Rob Kamen's kickboxing video tapes. I've been Wrestling with the University of Nebraska at Omaha the last 3 years. I've been training BJJ under Rodrigo Vaghi, a Rickson Gracie balckbelt out of St Louis, for the past 4 years. Scott Morten and Ed Shobe have been my main BJJ instructors, who are also part of Team Vaghi. I'm excited to fight Condit. I'm confident I will finish Condit.
PC: Not only will you be dealing with fighting at the pinnacle of the sport in the UFC, but you have a tough task in front of you in Carlos Condit. Do you feel any pressure and are you mentally prepared for that?
JE: I have no pressure. Carlos has all the pressure on his shoulders. He can't lose again, facing the possibility of getting cut from the UFC. I'm excited, I am mentally prepared and I will break him.
PC: Do you see any glaring holes in Condit's game?
JE: Glaring? No. He has showed weakness though.
PC: You are on a 4-fight winning streak. How much would it mean to you to defeat Carlos Condit and extend your streak to 5?
JE: Losing is not an option; I will find a way to win.
PC: For fans that have never watched a Jake Ellenberger fight, what can they expect?
JE: They can expect to see my full potential. Fast hands and an explosive fight!
PC: What would be the perfect ending to this fight for you?
JE: No question...the big KO.
