Moments ago, Richard Schaefer and Leonard Ellerbe held an international conference call to make a major announcement regarding Floyd Maywather Jr.'s anticipated return to boxing against Juan Manuel Marquez on September 19. "I'm excited to make today the announcement...The Big Screen," stated Richard Schaefer as he revealed that the Mayweather vs. Marquez bout will be shown live in movie theaters across America. "At the night of the fight, 170 theaters located in all major markets will carry the fight," he added.
The last time a major fight was featured in a movie theater was Sugar Ray Leonard's victory over Roberto Duran in the historic "No Mas" bout on November 25, 1980. Theater tickets, ranging between $12.50 and $15, are available now at participating theaters and at fathomevents.com, where you can also find a complete list of all participating movie theaters.
