After filing a lawsuit earlier this week against promoter Don King, former undisputed welterweight champion Ricardo Mayorga is set to make another shocking move as it was revealed that he will be pursuing a career in mixed martial arts. This past Friday, Mayorga was in attendance for the Ohio-based Shine Fights Promotions card, American Top Team vs. The World. During the event, it was announced that Mayorga would be making his mixed martial arts debut at the next Shine Fights event against "a big surprise opponent."
No other details regarding Mayorga's move to MMA were revealed, but the former champion is likely hoping to make a payday having last fought in September of 2008. In his last bout, Mayorga was knocked out by Shane Mosley literally in the last few seconds of the fight.
