AUDRA MARIE: "I LOVE THE UFC"

By Percy Crawford | October 17, 2009
AUDRA MARIE:

I'm not a Yoga sort of girl (laughing). It takes a lot to…kickboxing kind of quiets my mind. I don't know what that says about me (laughing), but when I kickbox, after I'm done, I feel calm. I know that sounds kind of crazy. That's how I got into kickboxing… It's so empowering to be able to kick and do all of the high kicks and just to know that I can do damage if necessary," stated Ultimate Spike Girl competitor Audra Marie as she talked Spike TV, the UFC and more. Check it out.

PC: How are you doing Audra?

AM: I'm doing very well. Thanks for asking.

PC: What led you to enter the Ultimate Spike Girl competition and how did you like it?

AM: Well, I loved it. Spike is awesome; it's a great network and it's fun. It has fun entertainment, sports and games and all of the things I kind of like and they called me and asked would I like to be in the running for the Ultimate Spike Girl. That's how it went down.

PC: Was this a big competition or did you get along with most of the girls? What was the experience like?

AM: Yeah…they set up over 3 days and they interviewed the girls. They basically brought you in for 3 days once they narrowed down the girls. From what they say, it was about 3 binders full of thousands of girls and they narrowed it down to 50. All of the girls who I did the photoshoot with were absolutely sweet. There was not one girl that was nasty or anything like that. It was great!

PC: Typically, it's tough to gather a group of great looking women in the same room and they all get along.

AM: Yeah, I'm with you on that one, but it was very nice and they basically were weeding out any girls that were not favorable or had bad attitudes and stuff like that.

PC: I searched high and low to find your connection to New Orleans and I couldn't find anything. So what is your connection to New Orleans and particularly the Saints?

AM: My friend actually co-owns the team, so that's kind of my connection with New Orleans and the Saints.

PC: Is that the owner Tom Benson's daughter, or granddaughter, I believe?

AM: Yes, Rita.

PC: And did you do some reporting for the Saints or something along those lines?

AM: I did. It was a Wednesday during the summertime so I was up there with the Saintsations, giving away prizes, and then I was interviewing some of the fans, which was really interesting; interviewing the fans is a great thing to do. I basically did a Jay Leno Street Walking type of thing.

PC: (Laughing) That can get pretty crazy down in New Orleans I'm sure?

AM: (Laughing) Correct. I got some really great answers. It was absolutely a blast to be able to do that sort of thing.

PC: Who is your favorite Saints player?

AM: My…ooowww…it's between…right now its Jeremy Shockey I have to say, but I love Drew Brees, Reggie Bush and Pierre Thomas is actually doing pretty good right now as well. I have a lot of them. I love all of the Saints. It's not one of them I dislike.

PC: I also hear you can kick some butt as well. How did you get into kickboxing?

AM: I'm not a Yoga sort of girl (laughing). It takes a lot to…kickboxing kind of quiets my mind. I don't know what that says about me (laughing), but when I kickbox, after I'm done, I feel calm. I know that sounds kind of crazy. That's how I got into kickboxing and growing up, I've always loved any action movie and 24, so I kind of like all of that kind of stuff.

PC: How long have you been kickboxing for?

AM: I took up kickboxing a couple of years ago; about 2 ½ years ago. I love it. It's so empowering to be able to kick and do all of the high kicks and just to know that I can do damage if necessary.

PC: Well that is definitely a quality to have when you're on the streets interviewing people in the French Quarter (laughing).

AM: Exactly!

PC: You are a very hot girl and obviously the people over at Spike TV thought so as well. Is kickboxing your only form of working out?

AM: Thank you for the compliment. No, that is my…when I work out, I like to see results. When I first started off kickboxing, I wasn't that great and my form was off and the longer you do something, the better you get at it. I just like to know that I'm working towards something, so when I work out, it's so that I can be better at kickboxing in my mind. So I'm not just going to the gym and being a rat. I can't, I can't, I can't (laughing).

PC: What does your life consist of on a daily basis?

AM: A typical day in my life? You know, being an actress/model in LA, you kind of never know what's going to be thrown at you. A typical day would be I wake up, go to the gym, go do some things that need to be done, kick some butt at the gym (laughing) and then I go to auditions; I may have a photo shoot or film something. It varies so much, you never know what life is going to throw at you. That's kind of a typical day in my life; you never know what's going to happen.

PC: Do you travel a lot and is that something you enjoy?

AM: I do. I do travel a lot and I enjoy traveling immensely. I started modeling when I was 14 and I got to go to some crazy places. I am very fortunate for that.

PC: Are you single Audra and whether you are or not, what is your type?

AM: I'm kind of taken right now, but as far as my type goes, I like someone who…this is a tough question you asked me (laughing). Having a sense of humor is huge, but they've got to love the NFL. It's not even a question; #1. That and video games and someone that likes to have fun basically and someone that doesn't take themselves too seriously.

PC: You love the NFL, you're hot and you kickbox? You are a keeper. He is a very lucky guy.

AM: Oh, thank you so much.

PC: You travel a lot, but yet, you still maintain a great figure. I know sometimes that gets tough because you have to grab what's close and quick at times. What is your diet like?

AM: If you ask one of my friends about a strict diet, they would just laugh because it is ridiculous. I love hamburgers and I always scour any city for the best hamburger. That's kind of my thing. I balance out…I try to eat clean organic, but then I'll do the opposite of that. I love In and Out, I love pizza and of course hamburgers. I'm kind of like yin and yang with my food. It's got to be like really healthy or really not.

PC: So you are one of those people my wife would hate because she has to watch everything she eats and train hard and here you go grubbing on burgers and keeping it all together (laughing).

AM: Awww, I'm sure she's absolutely beautiful. I'm lucky in that matter.

PC: Being that you kickbox, are you a fan of UFC or boxing? Are you a fan of the fights?

AM: I like boxing. I don't follow a lot of the matches on TV. I love all of that stuff. I love the UFC. I'm not really a fan of the ground fighting, but I love a good stand-up fight. It's fantastic. I like watching hockey games every once in a while to see those punches thrown. I kind of like that too.

PC: What type of childhood did you have Audra? Were you a cheerleader type because that's usually the assumption when you see a beautiful girl?

AM: I grew up in England. Yeah, my mother is British and my father is American and we moved to England when I was 2, so I got to grow up there in a little village and I was always outside riding my bike or doing something crazy like falling out of trees and things like that. I was a little bit of an adrenaline junkie and then my family moved to Florida and I tried cheerleading, but I was really into Nirvana at the time, so I was totally like one of those crazy Nirvana like cheerleaders. Don't ask; it was crazy. I didn't do things the traditional way. Cheerleading only lasted for about 6 months and I was really just more into being alternative I would say.

PC: Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

AM: I would definitely like to watch the Saints win a Super Bowl.

PC: That's going to happen this year babe!

AM: Let me tell you, 4-0 baby! But you know, in 5 years, I would love to have moved along with my acting career and I really don't plan the future. It's more fun just to not know what's going to happen and see what life throws at you. But if the Saints win a Super Bowl, I don't know what's going to happen. I'm going to go crazy in Miami, let me tell you that. I can't wait and I'm looking forward to the Giants game.

PC: You were an absolute pleasure to speak to and a very fun person. Hopefully we can meet in New Orleans some day. Is there anything we can look out for involving you?

AM: I will be in a new Kevin Spacey movie called "Father of Invention" and it also features Heather Graham and Camilla Belle.
