"I said this to Kimbo before he ever thought about going to the UFC and I still feel that Kimbo should be in boxing. He would be a huge draw," stated promoter Gary Shaw as he shared his thoughts Kimbo Slice's decision to continue with his MMA career. Shaw, who first promoted Kimbo in the now-defunct Elite XC organization, is adamant that Slice made the wrong career choice.

"He belongs standing up and fighting and not laying on the mat and grappling," Shaw remarked, referring to Kimbo's struggles thus far with the ground game. Judging from his recent performances, it's clear that Slice has yet to improve in that area and some, including his former boss Shaw, are wondering why the former street brawler didn't try his hand at boxing instead of mixed martial arts. "His strong suit is standing up and fighting and I think he would make a tremendous heavyweight," Shaw continued.
