Wait a minute! Let me get this straight. Undefeated welterweight Floyd Mayweather Jr. was actually ready to throwdown with 300-pound Rick Ross without requring a blood test? I find that hard to believe. You mean to tell me that "Money" Mayweather, AKA "The Human ATM Machine", was eager to trade blows with a fat rapper for free, but he's reluctant to lace 'em up against a naturally smaller man for $40 million unless Olympic-style drug testing is performed? Something just isn't right about that picture.
According to TMZ.com, Mayweather was attending the grand opening of Vanity nightclub, hosted by rap mogul Diddy, at the Hard Rock Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada when he literally bumped into Ross. The two have had an ongoing beef that has spilled over into interviews and rap songs. Sources say both men exchanged words and became confrontational, but just before things started heating up, Diddy stepped in and prevented a potential fight from starting.
I wonder if this latest news will play a role in the ongoing mediations for the March 13th megafight. After all, Mayweather's initial request for random blood testing was because, as he said, "it is our responsibility to subject ourselves to sportsmanship at the highest level." Apparently, those standards go out the window when it comes to your street cred up in da club...or maybe they don't. Just out of curiosity, if Diddy didn't swoop in to save the day, does anyone think Ross would have been asked to take a random blood test before a punch was thrown?
