MIGUEL COTTO:"I'M GOING TO BE PREPARED FOR YURI FOREMAN"

By Percy Crawford | February 18, 2010
MIGUEL COTTO:

"People are used to watching pretty good fights from Miguel Cotto and it's going to be the same. I'm going to be prepared for Yuri Foreman and I will bring a good show. I will come to fight and bring a good fight for all of the fans all over the worldÂ… I will fight until I am content and then walk away," stated former welterweight champion Miguel Cotto as he talked about his upcoming move up in weight to challenge WBA jr. middleweight champion Yuri Foreman. Check out what he had to say about the fight, his recent sparring sessions with two MMA fighters and much more.

PC: I understand you are in camp with both Miguel Torres and Kurt Pellegrino. How is that going?

MC: Everything is alright. Both guys are really strong and prepared for their fights and I know that both guys will win their fights.

PC: You are making a move to 154. What is it like to come down and get some work in with some MMA guys to start the process?

MC: It's really nice. It's something I have never experienced in my career, but it's good. Training with them was good and everything was amazing.

PC: Can we expect the same aggressive Miguel Cotto at 154 that we've grown accustomed to seeing at 140 and 147?

MC: Yeah! People are used to watching pretty good fights from Miguel Cotto and it's going to be the same. I'm going to be prepared for Yuri Foreman and I will bring a good show. I will come to fight and bring a good fight for all of the fans all over the world.

PC: It's almost like we watched Tito Trinidad pass the torch to you and in many ways, people are expecting you to pass the torch to JuanMa. You recently attended his last fight against Luevano. What did you think of his performance and what do you think of JuanMa?

MC: He's a great boxer, you know? He will be a great world champion.

PC: On the 24/7 leading up to the Pacquiao fight, it appears you still have a lot of fun in the sport. Will you walk away when the sport is not fun anymore or is there still the set date of the age of 30?

MC: I live a normal life, you know? I'm a funny guy. I like to have fun with my friends and that is going to be my life outside of the ring. I will fight until I am content and then walk away.

PC: I see you doing some sparring with Torres and Pellegrino in a cage. It looks as if you have some wrestling ability, taking Pellegrino down. Can we expect to see Miguel Cotto in MMA in his next career (laughing)?

MC: Nah, nah (laughing). I spend a lot of years of my life in a ring. I don't have any gains or plans of being in a cage.

PC: I appreciate your time. I know you have to train again here soon so thanks for taking time out to chat with me. Is there anything you want to say in closing?

MC: Thank you to all of the fans in MMA, boxing and sports. We're going to train and train hard for all of you fans out there and that will allow us to fight hard as well.
