"Botha is a guy that comes to fight, which makes for a good fight because I come to fight. It should be an interesting fight and I look forward to itÂ… That's still my goal. I wouldn't be doing it now if I didn't have a goal. The goal is to be the undisputed heavyweight champ of the world one more time and I'm capable of doing that and I believe I can do itÂ…my eyes are on a title. It's not just to fight someone because of money. This whole thing has never been about fighting for money. You can always fight for money, but my goal has always been about the title," stated 4-time heavyweight champion and future Hall of Famer Evander Holyfield as he talked about his April 10th clash against Frans Botha and his continued quest to become the undisputed heavyweight champion one more time. Check it out!
PC: You have a big fight coming up on April 10th against Frans Botha. How do you feel Champ?
EH: I feel great!
PC: No matter how long of a layoff you have, you always come in great shape. How has this training camp gone for you?
EH: It was good. I continue to do the things that are necessary to stay in shape. The most important thing is to not get out of shape and then you don't have to worry about getting in shape. I've been able to do that and I look forward to showing people that at 47, I can still do it.
PC: Is it discouraging to see David Haye get the nod against Valuev and in a lot of people's mind, he did less than you did?
EH: They gave it to who they thought was the best, but once again, it was another fight where Valuev didn't do enough. Unfortunately, it worked for Haye. It's bad that I didn't get it, but I believe that when I get it, it will be even better.
PC: Frans Botha is another vet; he's a tough guy and he's been in there with some tough guys. What type of fight are you expecting from him?
EH: Well, I feel Botha is a guy that comes to fight, which makes for a good fight because I come to fight. It should be an interesting fight and I look forward to it.
PC: You usually come in pretty light for a heavyweight. What are you looking to come in at on April 9th at the weigh-in?
EH: About 215.
PC: Damn, you can still come in at 215. That in itself is amazing.
EH: Yeah. It ain't no reason to change what's been working, you know? I started off weighing 220-222 and by the week of the fight, when the activity drops, my weight drops a little bit, so I should be about 215.
PC: Michael Moorer told me the other day that he feels an old school fighter would give the Klitschkos a tougher fight than some of these younger guys. He said he felt you had a very good chance of putting on a good fight and possibly beating them. I'm sure you wouldn't disagree with that?
EH: That's still my goal. I wouldn't be doing it now if I didn't have a goal. The goal is to be the undisputed heavyweight champ of the world one more time and I'm capable of doing that and I believe I can do it.
PC: Why do you think the Klitschkos give so many guys problems?
EH: TodayÂ…when you talk about better boxers, they just so happen to be the better boxers because they got more tools than the guys they are fighting. Every guy that they are fighting doesn't have the tools, weapons or talent that they have. These guys are different than all of the other heavyweights that are around. They have good amateur backgrounds and they have fought a lot of different style fighters and they just so happen to be the best at this time, until someone can prove that they are better. That's the big difference. No different than anybody else.
PC: There was some talk of a possible third fight between you and Mike Tyson. I know Botha is the focus right now, but is that a fight you would entertain?
EH: Everything is possible, but right now, my eyes are on a title. It's not just to fight someone because of money. This whole thing has never been about fighting for money. You can always fight for money, but my goal has always been about the title. I'm looking forward to fighting people that have belts and will allow me to reach my goal.
PC: Best of luck to you on April 10th against Botha. It's great to catch up with you. Is there anything you want to say in closing?
EH: I want everyone to buy the fight because they will get a chance to see somebody who has done what they said was impossible. They said I could never become champion and I did, not only one time, not two times, not three times, but four times. I am the only man that ever done it, so they get an opportunity to see me do it for a 5th time. This is a title fight for the WBF title from South Africa and I look forward to taking that as well.
