If Bernard Hopkins, Roy Jones Jr. and Golden Boy Promotions were hoping to cash in on tomorrow night's pay-per-view event, they better think again. At today's weigh-in, which was open to the public, roughly 300 fans showed up to see the two future Hall of Famers make weight prior to their long-overdue rematch. "233! I counted them," is what one eyewitness in attendance informed us. Even the media seems less than eager to see the two elder fighters settle their 17-year rivalry, as reportedly only 20 members of the press attended the event. Eventually, a few more fans trickled in from the streets, but hardly the type of crowd befitting a fight between two legends of the sport.
Regardless, with both men making the 175-pound limit, the show will go on and at a suggested retail price of $49.95, both Hopkins and Jones are crossing their fingers, hoping and praying that somebody, anybody will purchase the event. For those fans who aren't willing to part with that kind of money for a fight that only holds any meaning for Hopkins, you can also visit a local movie theater, plunk down $20 and check out all the action. Of course, as usual, FightHype.com will also be offering live round-by-round coverage if you prefer to follow the action from your computer.
