If you weren't paying close attention during today's weigh-in, you may have missed an interesting verbal exchange between Shane Mosley's trainer Naazim Richardson and Mayweather Promotions CEO Leonard Ellerbe. Shortly after both fighters made weight (Mayweather 146 lbs., Mosley 147 lbs.), Floyd Mayweather and Shane Mosley faced off and appeared to be having a verbal confrontation while Ellerbe stood between them. It looked like Mosley wanted to take it a step further when, on two occasions, it appeared as though he tried to push Mayweather, but ultimately, was met with resistance from Ellerbe, who grabbed Mosley's arm and prevented him from touching Mayweather.
Clearly upset with the fact that Ellerbe was getting physical with his fighter, Richardson was quick to respond and made his feelings about the situation known. Although it's unclear as to what exactly was said, both Richardson and Ellerbe could be seen exchanging words for quite some time after the two fighters separated. It's also unclear as to whether or not Mosley was actually going to push Mayweather, but rumor has it that he was indeed planning some type of "surprise" during the weigh-in. Perhaps Ellerbe was tipped off and was just taking precautionary measures, but whatever that "surprise" was, we'll never know.
