Both Floyd Mayweather and Shane Mosley made weight during today's weigh-in, which turned out to have quite a number of interesting twists and turns. Fighters in attendance included Joe Calzaghe, Ricky Hatton, Juan Manuel Marquez, Marco Antonio Barrera, Andre Berto and Sergio Mora and you'd be surprised at what the response was from the fans in attendance. Check some other tidbits from the action that went down.
Shane Mosley is definitely the favorite...
When ring announcer Michael Buffer asked the crowd in attendance who they were rooting for on Saturday night, the overwhelming support was for the underdog, Sugar Shane Mosley. Although Mayweather did receive his fair share of cheers, there were far more boos when his name was announced. Mosley, on the other hand, received the much louder cheers from the fans.
Both fighters are in tip-top shape...
No excuses! Both fighters looked ripped and ready for their showdown.
Floyd Sr. a bigger presence than Roger...
Both Roger and Floyd Mayweathere Sr. were in attendance at the weigh-in, but it almost looked as though Roger was taking a back seat to Flody Sr., who could be seen standing next to his son throughout the entire weigh-in. Maybe that means something and maybe it doesn't, but it was certainly interesting to see.
Ricky Hatton isn't fighting any time soon...
Ricky Hatton is fat. There's just no other way to put it! Given his rotund appearance, I'd venture to say that Ricky Hatton fans shouldn't be holding their breath for a comeback. I'm going to go out on a limb and say that he's probably not going to be fighting any time soon.
Either Tommy Hearns needs money or he still holds a grudge...
Although seven-time world champion Tommy Hearns was in attendance to show support for this Saturday's welterweight clash between Floyd "Money" Mayweather and Sugar Shane Mosley, it was another welterweight that he couldn't stop talking about during the weigh-in. Perhaps still struggling financially after being forced to hold an auction to settle past IRS debts, Hearns sounded as if he was campaigning for a third bout with Sugar Ray Leonard. "Every time I see Ray, automatically, fight pops into my mind. Damn, I want to have a flashback to 1989. All of a sudden, I just want to, I want to whoop Ray real quick," he stated as he took the stage. "Ya'll gonna have to forgive me. I hope Ray forgives me for the way I be talking to him every time I see. I say, 'Ray, let's do it one more time. We not too old yet.'"
Pacquiao fans were in the building...
Although the day belonged to both Mayweather and Mosley, the presence of Manny Pacquiao could definitely be felt as a decent contingent of his fans were in attendance wearing their MP jackets and chanting his name.
Joe Calzaghe is not so loved...
There wasn't much love for the other undefeated fighter in the building as a chorus of boos rained down when retired super middleweight and light heavyweight champion Joe Calzaghe was announced and took the stage.
