As we near the possible final resolution regarding Pacquiao-Mayweather, so too are we hearing alternate choices for Pacquiao's fall opponent. One interesting note I caught wind of was the possibility of a rematch with recently crowned 154-pound champion Miguel Cotto at...a catch-weight? Believe it or not, that news came from from Pacquiao's agent Michael Koncz, who all week has been discussing alternative opponents for the Filipino superstar. I don't know what's worse: Pacquiao fighting a worthless rematch against a fighter he thoroughly dominated or him robbing history by claiming an eighth divisional title against an opponent at a catch-weight once again.
Barerra vs. Soto on the horizon
Following a successful return for future Hall of Fame great Marco Antonio Barerra, plans are in order to match him up against fellow Top Rank fighter and Lightweight champion Humberto Soto. Barrera is hellbent on winning a title in a fourth weight class and his best chance will come against the dangerous, but technically limited Soto. Let's just hope that if Barerra does win this fight, we won't be subjected to a fourth clash with former rival Erik Morales.
Haye denies Harrison fight; claim he's still in talks with Klitschkos
The collective boxing community rolled their eyes and sighed in disbelief when we heard that WBA Heavyweight champion David Haye, yet again, talked his way into and then out of a fight with both the Brothers Klitschko. It was even worse when we heard that instead he was set to fight Audley Harrison, who is practically a journeyman, before year's end. Now knowing how bad of an idea that is, Haye has denied the fight will take place, but really fight fans, who cares what this clown has to say anymore?
