I'm just getting more nervous by the day regarding the final decision with Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao. Pacquiao can look forward to a fight with either Antonio Margarito, a pointless rematch with Miguel Cotto, as I stated last week, or a trilogy fight with Juan Manuel Marquez. Mayweather, however, doesn't have anybody lined up or any potential opponents for the fall if the fight with Pacquiao falls through, unless, of course, he can convince his manager, Al Haymon, to look the other way and make an Andre Berto fight, which would be the only interesting fight Mayweather can take at 147.
Sturm-Cintron On Tap For September
So much for saying Kermit Cintron croaked his last chance at prominence! It's being reported that Cintron may face off against WBA Middleweight champion Felix Sturm now that Sturm is freed from the promotional issues that have sidelined his career. Cintron would make for the best opponent he's had in years. While Cintron isn't the best fighter in the world, people forget that Sturm was knocked out cold by an ancient Javier Castillejo and struggled mightily against mid-tier fighters such as Khoren Gevor and Randy Griffin.
Straight Shot Ahead For Bradley-Alexander
Should Timothy Bradley and Devon Alexander keep their undefeated records in tact after their upcoming fights, HBO is committed to bring them together for a unification fight this coming January. While no other details have been ironed out, considering the two will be fighting a couple of weeks a part from each other, both parties are very interested for what should be a great way to kick off 2011.
Potshot Picks
Juan Manuel Lopez vs. Bernabe Concepcion
Lopez is easily the better fighter in every aspect on paper compared to Concepcion, but with a fight looming this fall against Rafael Marquez, should he win, his head might not be in the right place. Concepcion can crack and will hit Lopez with some big shots early on, but I think Lopez's team has him more mentally prepared for this fight than he was against Rogers Mtagwa last year. Lopez should take a few rounds to warm up and play it safe late to earn a decision.
