"By the time this fight happens, January 2011, this past Saturday will just be a blur. Kevin Cunningham has a big mouth, and Bradley is just the perscription to shut it," commented Gary Shaw, promoter of Timothy Bradley, as he shared his thoughts on WBC & IBF jr. welterweight champion Devon Alexander's hard-fought title defense against former champion Andriy Kotelnik this past Saturday at the Scottrade Center in St. Louis, Missouri. Unimpressed with the performance, Shaw strongly believes that the scorecards would have been a lot different had the fight taken place in another city.
"Kotelnik made Devon look like a rank amateur and if the fight was anywhere else in the US other than St. Louis, Devon loses," he continued during a brief conversation I had with him early this morning. Obviously extremely confident in his own fighter's abilities, Shaw doesn't appear to be concerned with anything that Devon Alexander brings to the table and is looking forward to the potential showdown with Bradley. Although details have yet to be finalized, HBO is currently working hard to close the deal and an announcement could be coming soon.
