ALEXANDER VS. BRADLEY IN SERIOUS JEOPARDY

It appears as though the proposed January 29 jr. welterweight title unification between WBC & IBF champion Devon Alexander and WBO champion Timothy Bradley is in serious jeopardy. Despite the fact that promoters Don King and Gary Shaw agreed to a 50/50 split of the total pot being offered by HBO, the camp of at least one of the fighters, Devon Alexander, is not happy at all with the dollar signs they were presented with. "I don't think this thing gets done," remarked Alexander's manager and trainer, Kevin Cunningham, when asked what the current status was regarding negotiations for the bout.

There's no denying that a unification bout between two undefeated fighters with three titles on the line is far more appealing than a number of other fights that HBO has grossly overpaid for and his been willing to support. When it comes to Cunningham, you never have to read between the lines, so it's clear that he thinks the offer from HBO was far too low for a bout that he and several others consider to be the second biggest fight that can be made in the sport. Unless there's a substantial increase in the offer that's already on the table, it sounds like both Alexander and Bradley will have to go their separate ways until all parties involved come to an agreement on just how big of a fight this really is.
