"Devon Alexander has done his part to make Alexander vs. Bradley a reality. The offer could have been better, but this fight is not just about the money," reiterated Kevin Cunningham, manager and trainer of WBC & IBF jr. welterweight champion Devon Alexander, as he reached out to FightHype.com to make it clear that although the offer wasn't necessarily what they were looking for, the magnitude of a jr. welterwight title unification is far too great to let it slip away. "Devon wants the opportunity to prove that he is the best at 140, and the only way that happens is to fight Bradley. Devon and Tim are both undefeated world champions. The other so called top guys at 140 have been knocked out and beat already. The winner of this fight is in the mix with Mayweather, Pacquiao and Mosley," Cunningham would explain.
Indeed, the winner of this bout will no doubt be a future option for both Mayweather and Pacquiao, assuming that neither fighter retires in the near future, as well as Shane Mosley, provided he decides to return to the welterweight division after his jr. middleweight clash with Sergio Mora next weekend. Although Team Alexander has fulfilled their obligation to make this fight a reality, they're still waiting on word from Team Bradley, who have yet to come to terms on their end of the table. Assuming Bradley takes the same stance as Alexander, viewing this fight as an opportunity to get in the mix with any of the top pay-per-view attractions, this fight should be finalized in a matter of days.
